Gintaras

INTRODUCTION - BEFORE YOU READ In my visual development class, I was assigned to create some aspects of a fictitious world from a list of prompts.  I chose the prompt of “Magical Amber”.  I have used this world building class to delve deeper into this world and really focus on creating the Gintaras into a more well rounded world.  Gintaras is a walled city based on the culture and landscape of medieval Lithuania.  I have Lithuanian heritage, so I’ve been using my family as a resource along with research to create Gintaras.  I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed creating it.  I had written more about this topic, but I cut it down so it would be faster to read through. MAGICAL AMBER The amber that washes onto the shoreline of Gintaras has magical properties that can include healing, adding strength and most importantly acts as a deterrent to all types of spirits.  The size, clarity and color of the amber determines their purpose.  Orange amber is used for protection

Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom

What is your reaction to the text you just read? Pretty indifferent.  I only got through the prologue, chapter 1 and through part of chapter 2.  I actually read part of chapter 1 first before I read the prologue so I was really confused when Lil pulled out the crack pipe and started smoking it right in the middle of Disney World. After I went back and read the prologue it made a lot more sense at her blatant not caring about getting caught with an illegal substance right in the middle of The Mouse's lair. I guess because this is a science fiction novel, I wasn't really surprised at the whole "multi-life" thing. I do wonder why the author chose to put the setting of the novel in Disney World though, other than it being the wanted destination for living of the main character. 2. What connection did you make with the story? Discuss the elements of the story with which you were able to connect. I didn't really make any connection to this story.

Peter Rabbit's World

CONCEPT I would like to do a theme park based on Beatrix Potter’s world of Peter Rabbit.  The profits from the gift shop would go to Ormond Street Hospital Charity as Beatrix Potter left the proceeds of book sales to that charity after she died.   RIDES AND ATTRACTIONS Rides: There is a carousel, a small roller coaster, a slow moving caterpillar ride.  The carousel animals are all based on Beatrix Potter’s illustrations from her books.  The roller coaster is based on Peter Rabbit’s escape from Mr. McGregor in the book The Tale of Peter Rabbit.  The rides are all undercover in case of rain.   Shops: There is a gift shop where customers can buy Peter Rabbit books and merchandise.  Profits of this go towards the Ormond Street Hospital.   Other Attractions: There is a small petting zoo that mainly features rabbits, shelter kittens and puppies (both adoptable), and some farm animals.  There is also a garden where families can pick tomatoes, carrots, berries, onions and herbs.

Cute Animal World

(I used multiple photos from different sets) The basis for this world is the love of every human, the cute animal.  There are 5 main characters and several side characters. Tiger - Tiger is best known for their love of adventure.  They want to explore new journeys, even if it means bending or breaking some rules.  Tiger also likes to see things in new lights, and doesn't care much for routine. Tiger loves to share tales of their journey with their friends, especially when Fox turns them into a song and dance routine. Fox - Fox is best known for their love of elegance and beauty.  They finds it best to spend their time creating an environment of luxury and mystique for anyone they consider a friend.  Fox also does have a talent for acting and dancing.  She loves to use Tiger's adventures and Owl's books as a basis for her material. Bunny - Bunny is the ultimate caregiver.  They loves to take care of their friends.  Bunny shares in Tigers love to see things in new ways

Natalie's Village in Oz

Image
For this assignment, I created a small village in Gillikin Country.  In keeping with Gillikin surroundings, EVERYTHING is purple.  All of the buildings are mounds in the ground, much like other Gillikin farmlands.  This village is small and located near a small lake.  The lake is at the southern most point in the village.  In this lake, there are Lavender Fish, much like the Comet goldfish, but larger and purple.  These fish are unique, as their taste harkens their name, a light lavender flavor through out.        Now, to the North of the village, there are the the crafting houses.  These crafting houses are filled with bookmaking workshops, storytelling and writing workshops, illustration rooms, ink making rooms, paper making rooms, lettering rooms, prink making rooms and other crafting rooms.  Now, one may wonder, how does one learn how to do all these things? Well, to the east, there is a large purple mound building which is a learning academy for all who wish to learn these
